What if, every time you had an urge to snack on something fattening, you could put on a pair of magical glasses that would whisk you away to a state of mind that was so wonderful, a place where thoughts of overeating simply didn't exist?Would you believe there really ARE such magical glasses? It's true!
In this article I'm going to reveal what I consider to be a truly mind-blowing, life-altering technique using these "magic glasses" to fight the munchies, AND to experience an awesome peaceful feeling inside to boot.
These glasses, or goggles, really, are not transparent, but opaque. In other words, you cannot see through them. What you "see" when you look ahead of you is an all-white field. The glasses block out all light from your field of vision, creating what is called a ganzfeld effect, which puts the wearer in a truly altered state of consciousness, very, very, very relaxed.
In such a state, eating is the LAST thing you want to do!
The word "ganzfeld" is German for "all field" or "whole field." When you put the goggles on and see an unobstructed, featureless field of light, the mind slips, very quickly, into a meditative state as the eyes relax and the brain quiets down.
Arctic explorers were the first people to describe the ganzfeld effect. After gazing into the snowy whiteness that surrounded them, they reported experiencing a kind of snowblindedness that quickly and consistently produced a profoundly altered state.
Now, learning to meditate for peace of mind can take years of practice to master. But experiencing the ganzfeld effect can put you in that deep meditative state in minutes, even if you have never meditated before.
Can you see how this can allow you to control overeating? We usually eat (when we're not truly hungry) because of boredom, or to soothe unpleasant emotions, anger, irritation, restlessness, etc.
To break the hold of the emotions requires forcing the mind away from those feelings, and if you instead have a feeling of total relaxation and well-being, you are probably not going to want to ruin it by scarfing down a package of Oreos!
