Perspective in a world of falsehood is subjective. It cannot be trusted and within the construct of such a unsure fallacy very little is available to indicate the existence of reality. The Matrix is full of many divisionary devices, separating the world of the real from that of the fantasy in the matrix itself. These devices range from the use of color tones and lighting to the angles and camera effects utilized in each scene. A definite line is drawn for the viewer after the realization of reality is established as to the difference between these worlds. Similarly to the separation imagery is the presence of linking imagery. The bridge between these worlds is necessary in developing the power struggle between human and machine kind and presenting the struggle of Neo transcending the machine construct. A primary device used as a bridge in this film is that of reflection. The real world, thus is an external power acting on the world of the matrix. The power of reality is represented by the reflections. Throughout the course of the film, in various methods and styles, reflection is used to establish the division of fantasy and reality, power and dominance therein, and the eventual prominence of Neo in that fantastical world of the matrix.
