Sean Jean is the clothing line of Sean Combs a.k.a. Puff Daddy, a.k.a. P. Diddy that launched in 1998. Rumor has it that he is the designer behind the popular upscale fashions. As smart as he is in business he hired Jeffrey Tweedy from Ralph Lauren to help him create his vision of upscale urban street wear. He is in fact making quite a name for himself within fashion circles. Always a clotheshorse, among all of the other talented hats that he wears, he may have truly found his penchant in fashion.

The high-end urban fashions designed by Sean Jean Combs are marketed towards males ages 12 to 45. The company subsequently designs, produces, and distributes the in demand clothing. Diddy took his interest to a whole different level when he inked a deal with Estee Lauder for his Sean Jean fragrance.

The Sean John Clothing Company is based in New York City, and Mr. Combs is the residing Chairman, with Robert Wichser as CEO. Todd Kahn resides over Sales and Marketing of the organization. Diddy didn't waste a whole lot of time with his fashion business. The company was formed in 1998, and the first line of the label was introduced in 1999. The line got rave reviews from the fashion industry. In 2000 Sean Combs was nominated for A Council of Fashion Designers of America Award as menswear designer of the year for the Sean Jean clothing line.

This nomination catapulted him into a very elite category along with March Jacobs, Todd Oldham and others. Marc Jacobs won, however in the fashion industry the nomination is equivalent to an Academy Award. This showed that he was definitely one of the elite competitors in the menswear fashion industry. He was nominated again in 2001. His first runway show was a live television broadcast in 2001, and the first retail store opened in 2004. In 2005 he launched women's wear.
