Infringement on My Rights!

I am an American citizen. This is my country. I was born here. My ancestors immigrated here generations ago, but they came legally. They learned the language, worked hard, raised families, educated them and taught them to strive for a better life than they grew up having.

Nobody changed the rules to accommodate them. It was very difficult for many immigrants to assimilate into the American way of life, and society was often cruel to them. But they stayed, they became American citizens, they learned, and they contributed a great deal in the process.

Today we have laws that protect everybody. The laws are intended to prevent mistreatment of each other. The laws are not intended to be randomly ignored for some people because it suits some political agenda. They are not intended to be skirted around to make it more convenient for hiring cheap labor.

I resent that there are those who want to pass legislation to accommodate people who are here illegally. I resent that I have to "press 1" for messages in English. I resent that when I call a business for information or to solve a problem, I must deal with someone with whom I cannot communicate. I would like to know what happened to the idea of being qualified for positions in order to get hired. I would like to know how it can be that people who cannot communicate in English, who have minimal education, and who are here illegally can receive benefits, hold jobs and not pay taxes in my country, while American citizens are required to prove their very existence on earth just to get their most basic needs fulfilled.

I believe if every one of us would stand up for our rights as American citizens and protested because our rights are being infringed upon, we could get the ball rolling. If we had the guts to refuse to allow illegal aliens to take our jobs, live here tax free, open bank accounts, receive benefits for which we are paying, and in general, refuse to accommodate their demands for equal rights and opportunities, perhaps our government would take notice and put a stop to the unfair practice of allowing this to continue.
