The news was final. NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly announced in January at the NATPE convention that the daytime soap opera, Passions, will end its eight-year run on the network in favor of extending the daily morning franchise The Today Show to an additional fourth hour of programming. Production for Passions is set to complete during this summer, while the four-hour run of The Today Show will begin next fall. President of NBC Universal, Jeff Zucker, also stunned soap fans when he announced that NBC won't likely renew the soap Days of Our Lives when the network's current contractual agreement with the program runs out in 2009. The news of Passions' cancellation and the possible future cancellation of Days sent shockwaves throughout the Internet soap community. The future of daytime soaps are now on the line, with many fans wondering whether the genre is on its last legs. When NBC announced the cancellation, it offered a sliver of hope to Passions' fans that the show might find its way to the ABC cable network SOAPnet or that it could end up on the Internet, but no news about Passions' ultimate future has been forthcoming. Whatever the case, Passions' cancellation does bode unsettling news for soap fans.

Yeah it sucks that Passions was cancelled. I went to Directv just because. And now what good did that do ? I have had nothing but trouble and now I am stuck. I think they just did it to get new customers ! Directv sucks and is just as expensive as cable. I am more than likely going back to cable tv.

I can't get DirecTV in my area! I've been so mad that they took Passions off NBC. I've watched since the very first episode.

i had watched passions since the first time it aired in 99 i remember skipping school to watch good episodes then they took it off nbc and i just went in to a two year contract with comcast when i found out they were takeing it off i felt like old friends were leaveing me behind sure it got alittle dumb at times but that what networks do to get old stuff off the air they could have brought new writers in to give it a little amp i mean who wanted to watch the hag martha steel other peoples ideas and sell them as her own and for the love of god why do you need 4 hours of the of news talk show i do hope that usa picks up passions because law and order for 7 hours is a little much for me or any oneoh by the way this is about the shows ending i under stand that this is very old put i just wanted to say something where ever i could about passions

i cant believe that passions was cancled. i watch that show all the time with my mom and have never missed an episode. besides are they really going to leave it so that way they dont show theresa and ethan getting married !?!? >=/ i had direct tv before passions was on it and i feel so bad that some people only got direct tv for passions. it was a waste of money and people should get there money back because direct tv is crappy without passions. it always goes out when its raining badly and the reception is terrible. so they should definatly bring passions back!!! >=/ comcast here we come!!!:] that was the stupidest thing that direct tv could do! maybe if everyone called direct tv and said that they are switching to comcast unless they put passions back on then they would bring it back.

Me to. Television isnt the same without waking up looking forward to passions. I just could not wait to wake up just to watch it. it started my day off good. They need to put Passions back on the air and take off all that other crap. They are really wasting tv time.

I think it is ashamed that you promised one thing and did not fulfill the viewers in what they like. Does anyone really care what we watch? Seems not. We want it back, to think I've gone on the internet to find out where I can find passions says something for the show. So how can we get it back? Please rethink and put it back on the air. Free TV is something that still exist in the USA. It's just we don't make the decisions or have a say.

I truly think they should bring Passions back to a channel that people already has on their TV..Im not going to buy Direct TV just for 1 channel, thats CRAZY...I hope they lose ratings by having it on Direct TV..

I'm really disappointed that "Passions" is no longer with NBC what a big let down this has turned out to be. Passions was the only soap opera I looked forward to watching . They replaced the air time to Martha Stewart , come on nothing like having time wasted....Bring Back "PASSIONS".

I think everyone should quit watching NBC and maybe it would wake them up..... There are some really good soaps on ABC and CBS....... Since Katie left the today show I only watched NbC for Days of our lives and Passions......

I'm sorry to hear that Passion's will be canceled on NBC. This is the only soap that I enjoy very much because it offers varity of stories and connects with each other. I especially like Tabatha and Endora. Since Passion's is going to Direct TV I hope Dish network will also get Passion.
