These photo frames are easy to do, and make a perfect gift for the modern bombshell in each of our lives. The base frame need not be expensive, and can be found at any dollar store, craft store, or thrift store. For this craft, you will need:
- A photo frame with a smooth edge, any size
- Yes® Glue, or any glue that will adhere to glass and dry clear
- Acrylic paint, in silver or gold
- Assorted seed beads, in a variety of colors or silver or gold
- A bag of 10mm Austrian crystals
- Hot glue gun
- Newspaper to cover your workspace
- Acrylic finishing spray
Start by removing the glass and backing from your frame, and setting aside. Coat the frame using a soft brush dipped in acrylic paint. Make sure the color is even, and allow the frame to dry. Do not be afraid to add a second or third coat if needed, until you reach your desired base shade.
Make sure the frame is completely dry before proceeding. Using the Yes® Glue, apply a layer thoroughly to one side of the frame. Shake the seed beads over the glue, and brush off any excess beading. Collect the loose beads from the news print covering and repeat until the entire frame is well covered.
When the frame has dried completely, shake it slightly to assure there are no loose beads. Then, fire up the hot glue gun and get ready to add bling!
Using a drop of hot glue, secure the rhinestones to the frame. Placement is entirely up to you. Allow the hot glue to dry completely. Spray the entire frame with acrylic finishing spray. Let the frame dry completely, which should take no more than an hour.
This frame looks excellent with a "vintage" looking photo, such as a black and white. Or, for a special treat, take a photo of you and your best "gal pals" and insert it into the frame. This frame also works well as a bridal shower or wedding gift. Or, instead of using a photo frame, try using a framed mirror.
TIP: You can use multicolored beads instead of plain beads for a fun, rainbow like look. Also, try using charm bracelet charms, seashells, old earrings, or anything that inspires you instead of rhinestones. The sky is the limit, so have fun and be creative!
