You worked hard for your money for fifty years. Now you are retired and you can finally sleep late. You don't have to deal with the hassle of a daily commute. You have all the time in the world to do what your heart's desire. But, what can you do to fill up your
free time in a productive matter? I am writing this simple guide so you can have fun in your golden years and be a productive-energetic retiree as well. Time doesn't stand still and neither should you.

First, think of the type of jobs you have done in the past. This can be the key indicator to finding an area to volunteer your time in and excel in. For example, if you were a teacher how about volunteering to read or tutor at your neighborhood school for a few hours a day? New York Cares, a non-profit volunteer link site, lists plenty of organizations and schools that offer these kinds of opportunities. Good teachers are hard to find and don't let the school system forget what a big part of it you were.

Even a museum or art gallery would love teachers to lead tours with young children. Not only museums offer these tour guide options but city parks and mansions and some major landmarks offer them as well. These places are not limited to teachers but anyone who loves children and wants to spend time with them. Also, a lot of the time galleries have free opening night receptions where you can get to mingle with the artist, and have drinks with your fellow art lovers. Look at the major colleges websites in your area to see their schedule of art gallery events. Many major city museums also offer one night during the week where they offer a pay as you wish night. The Whitney Museum and the New MOMA museums in New York City offer this discount every Friday night. Go check out some cool art on a Friday night.
