Ringing in the ears can be quite unnerving. If you suffer from ringing in the ears or tinnitus, you may go to your doctor to learn that there is not much that can be done about this condition. Stress becomes a factor with this condition and as you become frustrated, you will experience more stress. While most tinnitus patients report to hear ringing noises, some patients report hearing sounds such as ocean waves, buzzing, crickets, and whooshing. Understanding tinnitus can help you learn to deal with this condition and no become so frustrated. There are two types of tinnitus. The first type of tinnitus is objective tinnitus. If you are affected by objective tinnitus, others around you can hear the same noise you are hearing. Subjective tinnitus unfortunately is the type of tinnitus most suffers has. For many individuals with tinnitus, this ringing noise is intermediate, while others experience this 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Both types of tinnitus have their own origins. There are many cases where those who suffer from tinnitus have experienced a traumatic event. Loud noises such as gunshots, or explosions, as well as working in environments where the machinery is extremely loud, can cause your hearing to become damaged. If the thyroid organ becomes out of balance and releases improper amounts of hormones, ones heart beat can increase and a ringing or pulsating noise may be heard in the ears. The lack of certain vitamins such as vitamin B12, and Vitamin A could be the source of the problem as well.
