Driving is a complicated task. It would be great if it was simply stopping and going, from point A to point B. This isn't always the case. Many people should know how their car works from a basic standpoint inside and out. What all of the buttons can do, and how to adjust to different road conditions depending on season, or weather. It is important to be prepared so if a situation arises you do not panic, and know exactly what to do next. It may be a scary event to have a flat tire on the road especially if you are driving alone. Fear not fellow motorists i am here to guide you through how to change a flat tire.

Before i cover the steps it is important to make sure you know a few things about your tires. It is important to always check your tires and to see if they are in good condition. Make it a habit to examine your tires as frequently as you wash your car. It is very important to do a few test. At first observe and take a look at the amount of air that is in the tire, if it is not keeping its shape and sagging a little, it is time to inflate your tire at the local gas station, unless you have one handy in the garage. Check your car's owners manual for proper inflation and exact tire pressure necessary for safe driving. It is also important to check your treads, this can help prevent accidents and possible flat tires.

However a flat tire is not something that you can't always prevent, so here is a helpful how to guide to changing a flat tire.

Step 1: Pull off to the side of the road

- Make sure that you select a safe position if possible, you do not want to be in the way of traffic or in a position that would put you in harms way when attempting to change the tire

- If you can place your car on as level ground as possible, it would be best when changing your tire and safest position to be in.

- Once pulled off to the side of the road on level ground remember to put on your cars Hazard Lights, this will help other motorists see you, if your hazards do not work and you have a road safety kit it would be in your best interest to have a flair or a reflective caution sign in your car

- Place your car into Park, and if desired place emergency brake on as well to prevent any movement.
