Many people struggle over whether or not they should write their memoirs, but if you even think that you might benefit from writing them, I would encourage you to do so. Writing your memoirs can give you a sense of closure on past events and old friends that wouldn't be able to attain otherwise.

Further, it is never too early to write your memoirs. Some people get started on them in their mid- to late-thirties and don't finish them until much later. Others don't get around to it until they've retired, which is okay, too. Your memoirs don't have to be published and you don't ever have to share them with anyone, but it can give you a sense of accomplishment once you've finished.

If you're still having doubts, however, here are the top seven reasons to write your memoirs:

Reason #7: You've Got Grandchildren

There's never any guarantee as to how long you'll be around to get to know your grandchildren, and even though you shouldn't dwell on your own mortality, writing your memoirs can give the assurance that your grandchildren will know you. Telling stories and anecdotes from your own childhood will allow your grandchildren to connect with you.

Reason #6: You Owned a Business

Future entrepreneurs can always benefit from your experiences as a business owner and writing your memoirs is a great way to pass on your business savvy. Give future generations the benefit of your advice and wisdom in the form of your memoirs, detailing the specifics of how you got started and when your business started to take off.

Reason #5: You Made Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes, but I'm talking about whoppers with which you've never come to terms. Writing your memoirs can help you work through the mistakes you've made during your life and can help you make ammends with people you've hurt. Writing is extremely therapeutic and can unearth ideas and emotions you didn't know you had.

Reason #4: You Have a Large Family
