Another teacher has been arrested for alleged inappropriate conduct with regard to a student -- allegedly sexting naked pictures of herself and receiving naked pictures of a teen. Christy Lynn Martin, a 32-year-old exceptional student teacher at Azalea Middle School in St. Petersburg, Florida, was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with transmitting pornographic images through an electronic device and transmitting material harmful to a minor.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, a police report states that Christy Lynn Martin sent naked pictures of herself to an eigth-grade boy on February 28 and March 1. The boy sent a nude picture of himself to her the next day. Police were notified by the boy's mother after he confided in another family member about the relationship and they, in turn, told the mother. When the police caught up to Martin, she admitted to sending the images.

The teen also admitted to having a "relationship" with Martin to the authorities.

St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Profitt said, "My understanding is he is not one of her current students, but may have been one in the past."

Christy Lynn Martin was released on bond Sunday. She will be placed on administrative paid leave in accordance with school district rules regarding teachers under investigation. There have been no disciplinary actions taken against Martin since she has been a teacher.

The Florida teacher is just the latest in a number of recent arrests involving sexting, the dissemination of pornographic messages a la naked pictures via cellphones.

Six teenagers were arrested in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, for sexting in January. Three girls and three boys, ages ranging from 13 to 17, were arrested for manufacturing, sending, and storing pornographic images of minors (themselves) on their cellphones. Police were notified when a confiscated cellphone was found to have a naked image on it. A subsequent investigation led to the other five teens becoming involved. Authorities state that they are concerned that there may be more arrests before the investigation concludes.
