If you're like most people who consider themselves up with the times, you probably have an mp3 player somewhere on you whenever you go outside, whether it's to work or just across the street to the grocery store. Or you could be a customer in the market for an mp3 player or just consumer looking to upgrade from your old player. Either way, you're bound to come across the stalwart of the mp3 players in Apple's Ipod or you'll be looking for something new with Microsoft's Zune. Both are extremely capable and when it boils down to it, you couldn't go wrong with either or but there are some differences between the two products that might end up making you lean one way or the other.

For the sake of comparison, this product comparison will revolve around the 30 and 60 gigabyte Ipod, as the other Ipods fall into different categories which have different rivals. The Microsoft Zune is available in a 30 gigabyte model. Comparison to the smaller Ipod Nano and Shuffle should be made against an mp3 player with comparable hard drive space.

I must give Microsoft props for their attempt at the MP3 player market, but they're still not quite ready to go up against the iPod, it seems. I though about buying a Zune, but it's just not as functional as my iPod and iTunes.

Great comparison. My kids have ipods and I'm still considering getting an MP3 player for myself. This article has been very helpful.
