Laptops have become a precious commodity in the consumer industry. Requiring an extraordinary amount of care, they need to be cleaned and beautified once a year, sometimes more, depending on the amount of dirt that has accumulated on the screen and within the infinitesimal crevices of the keyboard. But remaining ignorant of how to clean your laptop can cause a great deal of harm in the long run, deleterious to both internal and external contents. There are generally two distinct parts of your laptop that you will want to clean -- the LCD monitor (flat-screen) and the keyboard. Follow these tips when cleaning your laptop so that it can live much longer, and therefore -- keep you happier for just that much longer.

Cleaning the Monitor:

The initial thing to do when desiring to clean the monitor is checking the Laptop User's Manual. Specific instructions are sometimes included to make the cleaning process easier. If it has instructions, then keep those in mind when reading this article -- and give anything in the User's Manual top priority. Next, turn off the computer so that you can more easily see the dirty screen. Then find a lint-free cloth, or if you do not have one, a cotton T-shirt, and dampen it with a blend of 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% distilled water (you can use only water if you choose, but be sure that it is not tap water, as this can leave mineral spots on the screen). Always rub the screen gently in a counter-clockwise motion. You might want to check out many of the computer stores in the area, as many of these have LCD cleaning material.

Humorous but true, I used to turn my keyboard upside down and just shake it a little bit until all the particles fell out; but shake it too hard, and you might have some components fall out with it!
