Chewing gum can actually be good for you. When you chew gum it can calm your nerves. Chewing gum can loosen up a tight jaw. If your jaw is tight and you tend to clench your teeth then chewing gum can give your mouth something to do. The muscles in your jaw will have a work out and then they won't be so tight. It is not good to clench your teeth together. It grinds your teeth making your teeth hurt. Grinding your teeth can damage dental work and even give you a headache. If you grind your jaw your teeth can ware down improperly and your bite won't be as effective. Chewing gum can help relieve a tense clenching jaw. Chewing gum can build up the muscles in your jaw and face making them stronger.

If you are on a diet chewing gum can help you loose weight. Sugarless gum is best to use when you are trying to lose weight. If you get the craving to eat something you can pop a piece of gum in your mouth and it can curb your appetite. Gum is tasty and it gives your mouth something to do besides eat. Chewing gum when you are hungry can help you to keep from snacking between meals. Chewing gum can keep your breath fresh and your mouth feeling better.
