While Not Well Known, Lake Charles is Probably One of the Most Beautiful Places for Summer Weddings
Many people do not realize that there are many great places to hold a summer wedding in Lake Charles, LA. Of course, there's always the traditional way of having a wedding at a local church, which is usually the church to which the bride belongs, and then having a reception somewhere outside. However, sometimes, it is nice to have the wedding outdoors and the reception in the same area. Here are some suggestionsSam Houston Jones State Park
This is a beautiful nature park that is not quite in central Lake Charles, but is located in a part of Lake Charles that people within the city recognize as a city called Moss Bluff. Entrance fees at the park are $1 per person and free for seniors and children under the age of three (3) years. Animals are allowed in the park. However, if renting a cabin, animals are not allowed in the cabins. There are a total of six cabins available, each at $70 per night. There are also 82 campsites that are available for RVs and these are $18 per night.
Prien Lake Park
As one might suspect, this park is located on Prien Lake. Access to the park is free for all people. It is a 29 acre park. There are public restrooms, a public boat launch, free parking, several picnic areas, and a playground. There is no overnight camping or parking allowed. However, there are two pavilions that are available to rent (visit the website for rental rates). The amphitheater may also be reserved, but there are some restrictions.
LaFleur Park (210) Beach
If you are wanting a beach wedding and still want easy access to the city, LaFleur park is the place that you want to go. Entrance fees are $1 per person and applies for all ages. If a person leaves, the fee will be charged again. A boat launch, parking, and picnic tables are available for free and there are public restrooms. Swimming is also allowed at the beach area, but not at the boat launch site.
