This vintage button gift bag is a fun way to share your vintage button collection as well as create a unique and one of a kind reusable gift bag. This vintage button gift bag is so durable you could even use it as a funky and whimsical overnight bag.

This Vintage Button Gift bag craft project should cost you less than $10 per bag, maybe less if you already have left over craft materials.

To get started making your own Vintage Button Gift bags you will need:

1 Pillowcase

Ribbons (for handles)

Velcro (self adhesive kind)) optional

Metal Snaps or zipper (optional)

Vintage Buttons

Needle

Heavy Duty Thread

The first thing you need to do when making your own Vintage Button Gift bag is to go ahead and attach the handles to the pillowcase.

Tip: You could use a pre made overnight bag in place of the pillowcase. Those premade canvas gift bags would also work well.

To attach the handles I like to cut two pieces of vintage ribbon, wide ribbon works best, about 10 inches long.

Attach them to the Vintage Button Gift bag with a needle and thread. Kids can easily do this themselves if they want to make one as well. Buy larger metal needs, with large eyes. This will help ids thread the needle.

You could also use two grommets on each side of the bag. Now, tie he vintage ribbon or rope through the holes as handles. You can buy grommet kits at any craft or fabric store.

Anyway, It looks really cute if you place you handles in about 4 inches from each edge and sew them on with a vintage button. I place the ribbon on the bag, a button on top of the end of the ribbon and then start sewing through the holes. If you don't have any buttons you could still just sew your ribbon on to the Vintage Button Gift bag.

Tip: Wash the pillowcase before you start. This will go ahead and allow the pillow to shrink if it is going to.

Now that the handles are finished you can start sewing on your vintage buttons.

Now the fun can start. Use any inspirations you can while making your Vintage Button Gift bag pattern.

You can use solid colored Vintage Button Gift in a variety of colors or even a variety of all different kind so vintage buttons.

You can plan out a specific pattern or stick with straight lines.
