Dr. Phil McGrawand his wife, Robin, are facing a $4 million lawsuit from a skin care company. The lawsuit was filed on March 11, by the Miracle Hydrate skin company. The lawsuit was filed at the L.A. County Superior Court, and claims that Dr. Phil's wife promised to feature some of the company's skin care products on one of the episodes of her husband's t.v. show. Robin McGraw promised that she had enough leverage to get hubby Phil to feature some of their creams and lotions on "The Dr. Phil Show." Miracle Hydrate claims they felt such assurance from Dr. Phil's wife, that they spent $650,000 preparing for the tremendous amount of sales they would make after their featured episode hit the air. The company now claims they were never featured on the show, and they say they have lost millions of dollars worth of profit.

In 2008, Dr. Phil was sued for a large sum involving the Natalie Holloway Case. A defamation suit was filed by Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, who claim they had no involvement in the Natalie Holloway case. They claimed defamation, invasion of privacy, emotional distress, fraud, deceit, and civil conspiracy. They claimed that Dr. Phil altered sections of a recorded conversation betweek the two, which created "create false, incriminating, and defamatory statements that the plaintiffs engaged in criminal activity against Natalee Holloway."

In 2006, Dr. Phil settled another lawsuit for $10.5 million, filed by unhappy customers of his infamous "Shape Up!" diet plan, which has since been discontinued. Three customers filed the lawsuit, claiming Dr. Phil defrauded fans with his venture into the diet supplement business. They say he made false claims about diet pills. Although Dr. Phil denied any wrongdoing, he did agree to the $10.5 million lawsuit settlement. Thousands of eligible customers were given the option of either choosing replacement products, or receiving a small cash reward.
