Do You Watch the Academy Award to See Who Wins the Oscar or Tune Out?

For many years I have thought it strange that I never saw the Oscars on TV. There would be a lot of hoopla about the Oscars but it never seemed to come on. It was only two years ago that I discovered
that the Academy Awards was the award show and that the Oscar is the name of the golden statuette that the winners receive.

Why did it take me so long to discover this? It took so many years because I didn't care about the Oscars. I also do not believe that the average person cares about the Oscars. For me the Academy Awards is an award show that seems to only care about dramas, a genre that I rarely watch. If a movie is boring, long, and overacted then it is just perfect to win an Oscar. Granted there probably have been some good movies that have won an Oscar but off the top of my head I can't think of any.

In recent years the Oscar ceremony itself has been going downhill and has dropped in the ratings, which is hardly surprising. The only thing that people tend to care about or remember is how the women were dress, who was wearing what, and "Oh my God, didn't she look in the mirror before leaving the house?"

Days after the Academy Awards have come and gone the only memory is the glossy cover of magazines who are hoping for a jump in sale for people wanting the latest fashions and snooty critiques. If a celebrity does something a little wacky at the Academy Awards or something record breaking happens then people might talk about the Oscar show itself for a few days but generally within a day or two the Oscars is quickly forgotten.

The most talked about Oscar goody are the swags. Bags filled with tens of thousands of dollars worth of electronics, clothing, jewelry and spa treatments are given out usually to the losers at the Academy Awards and when they bordered on a hundred thousand dollars in 2006, the IRS finally decided that they would start taxing these Oscar swags.

No one cares about these self-serving egotistic liars. Actors/Actresses lie for a living. The better they can fool you into believing they are someone else, the better they are at their job; being a liar.

Lol. I think a lot of people do. I heard the 2007 oscar was on for 4 1/2 hours. That is much too long for a show that is barely entertaining as it is.
