I get soooo bored on Trans-Atlantic flights. When I'm bored, I shop. The airlines know this all too well and are happy to assist. I think it was Lufthansa that got me for about $41 on this here Di
or Manicure Kit
. Lars was having convulsions and frothing at the mouth over the purchase. I assured him it was worth the price for such a teeny bag because it was Dior for heaven's sake. I have since eaten those words.

This kit comes in an irresistible little silver bag with a cute little silver ribbon and the word Dior boldly on the front in umm dark silver. It's kind of a satiny number and just looks very froufrou. I've been using it now for about ooooh 9 months or so, and I am telling you right here and right now: Do not fall for this!

Inside the travel bag are 8 items. Each one just about as worthless as the other. Ok. There is one item I liked.

Nail Polish Corrector: This is a white pen-sized dealy which holds polish remover. The tip is a kind of hard-ish cotton. You use this to clean up around your nails after you've polished them. This is the one item I like. It works fairly well and it hasn't run out yet. I should say that I do not use it a great deal though. I've been in the US quite a lot and have been getting professional manicures for the most part over there. So. I can say it has lasted 9 months, but the truth is that is with infrequent usage.

Nail Whitening Pencil: I thought oooh how uppity is that when I spied this little pencil. In had visions of self-done French nails. Bah. This pencil is a worthless piece of crap. It is, according to the small instruction book, for use under the nail to make them look cleaner. What it looks like in actual application is that some 3 year old was allowed to get out her crayons and play Beauty Salon on your hands. Trashed.

AH brings back fond memories of buying a $40 never polish your nails again nail shiner thing in the mall when the nice lady responded to "No, thanks" by dropping the price to $25. Later I find cheapo versions in the dollar store and while my daughters insist the original is better, they've also pretty much killed it with all the unique ways they found to use it.
