Hi.

Me again.

With yet another list. This time I decided to tackle the Action/Adventure genre... although quite a few of these do happen to cross over the genre lines, I guarantee you they have plenty of action. And Adventure. heh.

As usual, here are my top ten picks, but in no particular order:

Independence Day ~ Yeah bite me. I adore Will Smith and this is one of my favorites with him. Here we have an alien attack with lots of big names trying to save the Earth. Improbable premise? Yeah yeah... so what. Some very humorous moments, especially in the form of Randy Quaid's character, a drunken crop duster who had at one point been taken by aliens (so he believes) and gets recruited to battle the mother ship. Nice bit, that.

Pirates Of The Caribbean ~ Tis about a treasure, ye see...and pirates, and a maiden who needs rescued. Jack Sparrow is a bumbling fool of a pirate who used to captain the Black Pearl (the most dreaded pirate ship to ever sail the seas). The ship got hi-jacked by his first mate (damned pirates! Just can't trust em!) and then became cursed by a treasure chest of coins... cursed to never die, but not be alive either. Errr Johnny Depp in a pirate get-up. That's what I'm talkin' about!

Die Hard ~ Bruce Willis is just damn manly in this action flick as he deals with terrorists on Christmas. Lots of thrills here, folks. Alexander Godunov is a chilling bad guy in the first (not to mention how excellent Alan Rickman is); Franco Nero (Lancelot from Camelot) appears in the second one to my delight; and the third in this trilogy tosses in Samuel L. Jackson to give it that extra oomph.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark ~ Harrison Ford in his sexiest role ever as archaeologist Indiana Jones, who just happens to be trying to beat those nasty Nazis to the Ark of the Covenant. The humor here puts this one above many others into the top ten. I mean, this bumbling professor committing all this daring-do... priceless... and just tons of great one-liners throughout. You Americans, you're all the same. Always overdressing for the wrong occasions.

In Independence Day, When Jeff Goldblum turns on his computer the computer's voice says 'Good Morning Dave' which is a reference to the film 2001.

Hmm. I didn't think I was into action/adventure but I seem to have seen and enjoyed most of these.
