A baby's safety is critical. if you have a baby you know how important it is to keep your baby out of harms way. Even watching your baby receive a vaccination at the doctor can bring a tear to your eye if you are like me. shots are something unpreventable, but household dangers are preventable. Thes
e tips are very important.

First, never shake your baby. It does not matter if it is out of anger or play. It can still cause damage, becoming either deadly or causing serious brain injury. The hospital that I gave birth in permitted my boyfriend and I along with all parents to view a video on Shaken Baby Syndrome before leaving the hospital. I think this is a very good idea. Although I already had the common knowledge that it is not okay to shake a baby, there may be some people who need reminding. Some people become overwhelmed by a baby's crying and feel like you may lose control. Do not take it out on your baby. Turn up some music or ask a trusted friend to watch your baby until you cool down. Babies communicate with crying and they can not help it if the crying stresses you out. it is their way of expressing what they are feeling. It is okay to feel stressed once in awhile, but as long as yo cool down in a safe way your baby will be okay too.

Smoking around your baby is another known danger. It can put your baby at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, asthma, sinus infections, and ear infections. If your baby already suffers from any of these illnesses smoking around her can make them worse. If you smoke, try to quit. If you can not quit at least go outside to smoke when you need to. To prevent SIDS, which can be brought on by second hand smoke, always put your baby to sleep on her back.

Safety in the car is a big concern for many parents. Always use your car seat according to the instructions and always use all of the straps provided. Also, be sure to strap all the safety straps that are found in strollers, swings, seats, and changing tables so that your baby does not fall. Also, never leave your baby in the car alone. If you are going into a store only for a minute still unbuckle your baby and take her inside with you.
