When you set up a booth at a fair, you are competing against all the other booths for the crowd's attention. Even if your jewelry is the best available, an unattractive booth will prevent most of the potential customers from even seeing your work. Your booth doesn't need to be perfect, but make sure you are maximizing your profits with these five tips.

1. Add a touch of pizzazz

Face it, booths can be boring. Fairs are set up in large, unflattering halls and not trendy boutiques. If you want your booth to stand out, you'll need to make it more interesting than your neighbor's booth. Add some color or props to make your jewelry stand out more. But be sure to not overdo it. Your jewelry is the star of your booth and any color or props you add should be to highlight your jewelry, not outshine it. So stick with a solid black tablecloth covering the table. Keep most of your jewelry on display racks or in gift boxes. A nice colored scarf will draw eyes to your booth and can display a complementary piece of jewelry.

2. Think vertically

Don't make the mistake of having all your wares laying flat on your table. Earring racks are great to display a lot of your jewelry without taking up too much of your booth room. And don't stop with just a couple of earring racks. Try to add some variety to the height of your table. In addition to the tall earring racks and the flat table with the boxed jewelry, consider making a display that is between those two. The human eyes like variety.

3. Mirrors

Mirrors are vital for selling your jewelry. People will want to hold up your wares to see how they would look on them. Including a few mirrors spaced across your table will attract those looking to buy. Get mirrors that can be angled up to the perspective customer's face. Also consider the lighting. If the lighting is poor in the location, invest in some portable lamps. Well lit jewelry will sparkle.

4. Create a unified, professional look

Don't try to fit every idea you have into your booth. Choose one predominant color and two colors to complement your scheme. You can have fun with your booth ideas, but multiple colors and textures will make you look like an amateur.
