There are many stereotypes and labels associated with homosexual men. These stereotypes are based on many factors, including people's own judgmental attitudes of homosexuality and the way in which homosexuals are sometimes represented in the media. Some of the stereotypes associated with gay men are in relation to the sexual practices of gay men. Some stereotypes are based on the way some gay men carry themselves. This article explores some of the common stereotypes, beliefs, and myths that surround homosexual men in today's society.

The most common myth associated with gay men is that all gay men have anal sex. Obviously, there are gay men who find anal sex to be very pleasurable; however, there are many gay men who enjoy other forms of sexual activity than anal sex. Some forms of homosexuality, which don't involve penetration include oral sex, anallingus, also know as rimming, and frottage.

Some people believe with all their heart that all gay men are promiscuous. From my personal experience, I can tell you that this is simply not true. I am a gay man and it has been a long time since I have had any form of sexual activity. There are gay men who believe that it is their right to go to bed with many men, and not to be choosy about the men that they sleep with, but there are just as many who are choosy and don't have sexual relations outside the confines of a committed relationship.

Gay men are not perceived to be monogamous. Many people believe that gay men do not believe in being monogamously coupled. While there are some gay men that will never settle down with one man, there are just as many who have some sort of vision of the proverbial white picket fence.

Many people believe that all gay men have effeminate mannerisms. There are some gay men who have feminine characteristics, and are interested in activities that have traditionally been perceived to be more feminine. There are some men who are somewhere in the middle. They have their feminine side, but they also have a masculine side.

I like your gay articles. I know that sounded like an insult but I don't know how else to word it, heh :)

Labels mean nothing to me... stereotypes, eh, you know, we all do them from time to time, but I shunned the use of labels a long time ago - I am Michell, Michy if I like you, and Shelly if you're my family (but don't you dare ever call me that unless you are related by blood)...those are the only labels I place upon myself. (shrug) Thanks for sharing your point of view here...
