Some shows are cancelled without notice by Fox, slowly taken off the air without announcing to legions of fans the demise. Some shows are taken off with a flurry of protest and angry reactions from th
ose same fans. The path television shows that are prematurely removed from the air take is entirely dependent on the fan base, but the fact remains that the shows have such a strong following and such a wonderful premise, why take them off the air at all. These shows were all taken off the air prematurely, television executive hatcheting them for whatever reason they decide to hatchet anything. Some were brought back, others were not but should be. These are the best of Fox's many axed shows.

Family Guy
Family Guy was one of the truly shocking cuts in Fox's long and litigious history of cutting good shows. Not only was it hilarious, but it had decent ratings and the only reason it wasn't competing with The Simpsons and King of the Hill was Fox's willy nilly habit of moving their shows around without telling anyone. If you can't find the show, why would you watch it? After a short pilot season and two full seasons though, Family Guy was pulled from Fox's line up and shelved for what many fans assumed would be forever. Something intriguing and remarkable happened though over the course of the next four years. The internet grew, DVD became the format of choice, and cable began picking up old shows with promise. Family Guy DVD sales were astronomical and late night airings on Cartoon Network regularly beat out late night offerings on the networks. Fox noticed and signed MacFarlane to make a straight to DVD release. In the time that it took to put that film together, Fox also decided that the success was too monumental to ignore and resigned Family Guy to return to the air in 2005. Now in it's fifth season, Family Guy is one of the higher rated sitcoms on television, and rightfully so Fox leaves it where it belongs on Sunday nights.

So true! I won't even watch Fox anymore because I'm tired of them cancelling my favorite shows! I was mad when they cancelled Family Guy, Greg the Bunny, and Andy Richter Controls the Universe, but cancelling Arrested Development was the last straw!
