When your infant reaches a certain age they begin to stay up longer in the day, and fight going to sleep at night. Don't worry though; you are not the only parent in the world that deals with this! Almost
all babies go through this stage and it is perfectly natural.

At times it will seem as if nothing you do is helping your little bundle of joy nod off to sleep. But have faith, there are many ways to help your little one dose off, but you have to be willing to give it time, and not lose your patience.

Try swinging them to sleep. Any swing is fine in this case; if it's going to work you'll know within minutes. The newer sings that swing both ways are ideal; you can give your baby and option of which way he wants to swing. The motion of the swing reminds your baby of when they were in the womb. They moved when you moved, and walked when you walked, so they always felt the motion of movement.

Try rubbing their back or belly. Depending on the age of your baby and weather or not they are comfortable sleeping on their belly, try rubbing their back. If your baby is more comfortable sleeping on their back, try rubbing their belly. Listening to the soft music of their mobile and the gentle touch of Mommy or Daddy may help soothe baby to sleep.

Try singing to them. Your baby knows your voice, and it will help ease them to sleep knowing that you are right there beside them. Pick a slow, nice flowing song that will drift your baby to sleep. This technique it good, but sometimes makes baby attached, and in a future they will have a hard time falling asleep other nights without you there.

Try playing a calming CD. If your baby isn't crying profusely, put the CD on and leave the room. After you know your baby is sleeping, walk back in and turn the music off. This helps them fall asleep without having you by their side.

Good advice and cute pic once again.... luckily Sarah sleeps well, but every baby has those nights.
