You have fought, argued, begged and in the end you are still fighting a battle that seems almost never ending. You want your child to eat and be healthy. You need a way to get your child to learn to love the foods put in front of them. Parents have struggled with this one more times then you can count on both hands. Children and vegetables just don't seem to get along.

Parents go to their child's pediatrician all the time asking him for advice on ways to get their children to eat healthy or at the least, eat anything other than lollipops and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Most pediatricians would agree with me when I say that children will eat when they are hungry. I guess this wasn't the advice that you hoped for. Here is some better advice to go with that statement.

Children learn from their parents, and nearly everyone else that comes in site. If you want your child to learn good eating habits then be a role model for them. If your child sees you eating a certain item then eventually he may want to try it and who knows he even might like it. You should try to start good habits from an early age so that the child will grow up using good habits.

Play with your food every now and then. Make games out of eating. Try acting like your child is trying to save the world from all the green aliens and must eat them to do this. Your child will have fun and before you know it, his food will be gone.

I have heard plenty of parents telling their child to eat everything on their plates. Before doing this you should ask yourself if you think that your child is even hungry. If your meals are close together then your child may still be full from the last meal that was served. I have found that the best way to get your child to eat what is on their plates is to only put small portions on it. Putting small portions of food on their plates will keep your child from acting like it is a quest to eat because there isn't much there in the first place. Your child could always ask for seconds if he is still hungry.

That was an extremly long comment down below. I take it that you like her work. I am also a big fan and can't hardly wait until she publishes more.

I think for now on when I have a long comment I will send it in a message to you because every time I write my long comments on here it doesn't all fit. :)

I have got to quit writing the long comments because the whole thing doesn't fit. Anyway what I was saying was my sister never taught her good eating habits so it's too late to get her to do this now. Also she doesn't eat that much so I do put small portions on her plate and tell her if she wants seconds she can have it. But she usually will only eat the little bit I put on her plate or bowl and then she's full. The girl doesn't eat that much. She is so active you figure she would work up an appetite but she hardly eats. I have noticed a few kids I used to babysit that didn't eat that much. Anyway this is a great article and great advice not only for mothers but aunts and babysitters too. Oh and dads and uncles, can't forget about them. :)

Well like I said in my comments on some of your other articles I don't have any children but this is very good advice. Especially the television and the smaller portions of food part. I have noticed this with my 10 year old niece. In the morning when I have her she watches t.v while she's eating and I have to constantly remind her to eat her breakfast. She'll ask for cereal for breakfast and since she's watching t.v I look over at her and notice that she hasn't taken even one bite because she's too rapped up in the cartoon she's watching. But she's so used to eating like this that she refuses to eat at the table. My sister lets her eat wherever she wants. It's worse when I have to get her ready for school because she'll want to eat breakfast in her room before she gets ready for school. She lays in bed and watches cartoons while she eats her breakfast and when I go back in about 10 or 15 minutes later to get her ready she still hasn't eaten because of the show she is watching. My siste
