You can now travel to several of DC's largest and newest movie theaters on the brand new DC Circulator bus service. The colorful red buses have large windows so riders can easily watch the action along the route, something you can't do on the subway.

There are two routes-one from Union Station to Georgetown (via K Street, NW) and the second from the Southwest Waterfront to the Washington Convention Center (mostly along 7th Street, NW and SW). The routes were designed to complement Metrobus and Metrorail service. Perhaps more important to those tired of high gasoline prices, the ride costs only $1 - 35% cheaper than a short bus or subway ride.

The Circulator operates from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., every five to 10 minutes. This means you need to catch a matinee or early evening show if you want to use the Circulator for both parts of your movie transport. However, the North-South Route is easily accessible by subway.

Not so the Georgetown leg of the East-West Route. Folks in Georgetown lobbied hard to avoid having a subway stop, thinking it would spoil the character of their neighborhood. Thus, the movie theater is a good 12 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro Station, which is near George Washington University. You can hop on a regular Metrobus after your movie, or figure you saved so much money on the ride over that you can grab a cab for your return.

The theater sits within the train station's food court, with two floors of shops above it. Walk over to the U.S. Capitol and take a tour before the movie.

Across from the theater is a beautiful park, and it's hard to believe that the Whitehurst Freeway runs above you. A short two blocks away is the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street, NW - the hub of the Georgetown scene. You can't go 50 feet without finding a great place to eat or a trendy shop.
