Alexis Grace Sent Home from American Idol on 03/18/09
I was surprised with the results of this weeks American Idol show. Now, Alexis Grace is not one of my favorites and I'm personally glad the judges did not use their save on her, but I'm surprised that she would be sent home before Adam Lambert after Tuesday's performances. "Jolene" might not have been the best choice of song for Alexis, but she did a decent job of performing it. I thought she definitely performed better than Adam Lambert did Tuesday night. I have to say I agreed with Simon about Adam's performance. It's not that he did a different take on the song "Ring of Fire". My problem was his voice. I personally thought he destroyed the song.
The results show did provide some good entertainment. Brad Paisley performed his new single "Then." As always, he performed really well. He always sounds great in his live performances.
Another great performance of the evening was Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood singing a duet of "I Told You So." I think this had to be a very special moment for both Carrie and Randy. I thought Randy Travis looked very proud as Carrie was singing her parts of the song and he definitely should have been. Both are such great performers and I really don't think anyone could have performed that song better.
Hopefully, next week the contestants will step it up with their performances. It seems to me that most of them are continuing to play it safe.
