-Cell Phone
If your teen has a cell phone than they should keep it on them at all time. Never leave the house without a full charged cell phone. If something does happen the phone company can send out a signal to the phone and determine what area you are in. It almost works a GPS system except it does not pinpoint the person's exact location, just their general area.
- Money
Always keep enough money for a cab stuck in your somewhere that is not in your purse. This way you can have money to get home or out of a bad area.
-Buddy System
It is very important to go everywhere with at least one friend. The more people that you have with you the less likely you are to be targeted for violence. This is very important if you are in an area you are not familiar with. However, a majority of violent acts happen in familiar places.
-Always be aware
No matter how familiar you are with a place you should never let your guard down. Always be aware of the people that are around you. Listen to your gut feeling about people because it is usually right. Teen girls tend to be so engrossed in their outing that they do not take the time to pay attention.
