Big Fish is an extraordinary tail of a guy who leaves his comfortable life to chase after his dream no matter what it may take and where it may take him. William Bloom is a guy from a small town named Spectre, Alabama. He attends a circus and sees a girl who he falls head over heels for even though he has never met her or talked to her before.
His life goal from now on is to meet this woman, marry her and spend the rest of his life with her. He joins the circus and works towards finding out about this girl. As part of the deal, he does any and every kind of work. In return for his hard work, he will learn one thing about this girl every year.
After a few years of working, he finds out enough about the girl to pursue her. He ends up enrolling at the same college as her. A little bit down the road after college, William ends up marrying his dream girl and they start their life together.
The next few years takes William all over the world with enough zany stories to last a lifetime. His life stories include befriending a giant from the circus, acting as a getaway driver in a robbery and escaping a war zone half a world away with two Asian girls who are identical twins.
William really describes his whole life story as being a big fish in a little pond. When he left Spectre, he was really out of place with his new surroundings being the circus. He had to start from scratch to achieve his life dream.
The giant he befriended became one of his close allies during this time period. The scenery of the circus looks like something from a time period long gone by. Tim Burton really made this story stand out in with the stories that this person tells sounding so far out there that you are unsure to if he is telling the truth or not. Whether they were really true or not, they made the movie enjoyable to watch, which for me this was my first time.
From the movie posters and previews that I had seen of this movie, I was not all that interested in seeing it but I ended up enjoying it. Then again, sometimes to enjoy something, you need to take a chance in life.
