I was lucky enough to be in attendance at the 2009 Illinois Class 4A State Basketball Championship between Waukegan and Whitney Young (Chicago). Both teams featured high recruits including Marcus Jordan from Whitney
Young and Jereme Richmond from Waukegan. Whitney Young won the Championship 69-66 behind Marcus Jordan's 19 points, but I was more impressed with Jereme Richmond from Waukegan. Richmond is ranked by Scout.com as a Five-Star recruit and the third best small forward in the 2010 class.
Richmond is a 6'7 G/F in his junior year at Waukegan in Illinois. Although he is the tallest player on his team at 6'7, Richmond plays guard. On the season he averaged 20.3 PPG and 9.7 rebounds per game. Added to his scoring and rebounding ability, he has incredible ball handling skills and can run the floor like a true point guard. Several times Richmond drove from the key in between several defenders with ease. Richmond has a clean shot and hit several threes in the game even with a hand in his face. He had three steals and didn't collect any fouls until the final minutes of the game when they were necessary. Richmond has a solid inside game and is not afraid to scrap for boards or challenge the opposition while playing defense.
