Changing the Opacity on a layer in Photoshop is one great effect a lot of people do not take advantage of. However, changing and playing with the Opacity is as easy as clicking and dragging something on your computer. The only really hard thing about Opacity is to know the perfect place to set it. In this article I will explain how to change the Opacity on layers, not in brushes or anything more advanced than simply layers. If you have never used Adobe Photoshop, I suggest trying it at your school one day, or at a friends house. The program alone costs a lot of money, so I do not suggest buying it till after you have taken a Graphical Design class in school, at a library, or know someone who can teach you. There is so much to learn in Photoshop, and there is so much to do, you can spend days, weeks, and even months working on a single project, editing it, resizing it, changing colors, chaging text, changing the opacity, and so on. Adobe Photoshop is by far the best program to use to create flyers, ads, and just to use for graphical art altogether, it has everything you need. There are many different versions of Adobe Photoshop, and with each new addition it only gets better.
To change the "Opacity" in Photoshop you need to select a Layer on your Layer Palette, which is located at the bottom right of the Adobe Photoshop window. You can see next to the tab that says "Layer" which accesses the Layer Palette, there are two other tabs that say "Channels" and "Paths", however we are only be going to use the "Layer" tab today. With each new layer you can add new images, text, and even merge two or more layers together to move them around in one stroke. However, I suggest that you do not "Flatten Image" or fully Merge the piece you are working on until you are totally done. Even when you are done I suggest saving a file Unmerged so you can go back to it later and work on it. If you "Merge" a Photoshop file, all the layers become one single layer, so you can not move objects around freely anymore, you would have to start over to get the full effect of Photoshop once again.
