I love to ramble on about things I did not say, so I research quotes from famous people, or not so famous, and write opinions on or reviews of these "wise words." I strongly believe these quotes encourage me to freelance on the original idea, expanding the positive or negative avenues the speaker could have taken this statement on. Here is one by Ayn Rand--

"The ladder of success is best climbed by stepping on the rungs of opportunity."
Okay, I have repeated this quote but was not quick enough to voice it before this interesting and dark author received recognition for speaking it. These words of wisdom fell from her lips when writing as a woman, intrigued by the topic of everlasting life using death as the very requirement, was unheard of. You had to be especially creative, forging through mountains of criticism and rejection; while producing the very best literary fiction the market had to offer. Her opportunities made known in the realm of her creepy yet seductive imagination, were embraced with enthusiasm. I think she found this beyond the prison her ego felt trapped in; where some talents got buried in. The vile restraints it was housed in could come out in fantasy and lore which, with enough avid interest, could provide for a decent living. Ayn freed herself from those shackles and produced an amazing series on the undead: adventures of.
For me, demonstrated in my writing, the same sort of thing might manifest when my imagination gets the best of me. The inspiration comes from a variety of influential channels I tune into. The mind 'sweeps' come after I have cooked a good meal, cleaned the house, stretched with yoga and meditation deep-breathing session, listened to the radio for awhile, or read another commercial fiction book. The ideas (rungs on this ladder of success) just pop up !
