Today, watches are not only used for checking the time but they have also become an essential accessory and a style statement. One can gauge a person's personality by the watch he wears.

A watch is a small portable clock or timepiece that displays the time and also sometimes the day, date, month and year. In the old times, these often took the form of pocket watches, which today are seldom carried. But now the most common type of watch is the wristwatch which is worn on the wrist and fastened with a strap or a band made of leather, metal or nylon.

Parties and special occasions demand that extra bit of dressing. So to add that sparkling effect to your attire, there is a wide variety of exotic and flashy watches to choose from. One of them is the bracelet watch which is be made up of gold, titanium or stainless steel. Moreover these watches can also have precious stones studded on them to give that extra bit of jazz. One can also go for hi-tech digital watches depending upon the wearer's personality.

These days, wristwatches are treated as jewelry or as collectible works of art rather than as timepieces. This has promoted several different markets and manufacturers for wristwatches, ranging from very cheap but accurate watches intended only for telling the correct time, to very expensive watches that are used mostly for personal adornment without stressing on accuracy. Another type of watches is "geek watches"-watches that along with telling the time, incorporate computers, GPS and many other features.

A number of features which are not directly related to time have also been included in watches. With the advent of miniaturized electronics, inexpensive watches have been designed featuring 3D games, calculators, cameras, flash drives, GPS and others.
