Searching for plane tickets is a hassle for most people. Most folks search the Internet or use a travel agent, and still wind up paying too much for their air travel. So exactly how should you go about searching for airline tickets and finding the best deals on airfare?First, the most important thing involved in finding the best deals for airfares is to realize what a great price looks like. If you are unsure what the best prices look like then how will you know when you see one? The easy answer is that you won't, and therefore you will struggle to effectively book the best deals. Typically, the best deals for regional or same-time-zone flights bottom out around $225. Cross country flights typically bottom out around $300. These bottom line deals aren't extremely common; however, they are out there and can be found with a little legwork. So, the next time you see prices such as these you will know that you are most likely looking at the best possible deal. These deals usually don't last long and can change within an hour of posting, so identifying the great deals and booking them right away is a key factor in booking plane tickets.
Next, it's important to understand what factors affect the prices of airfare and to use those factors to your advantage. Airfares typically range in value depending upon several important factors such as: hub city location/proximity, distance, number of flights available. The location of your travel is important because different airlines have different hub cities. For example, a person in Charlotte, NC wanting to travel to Philadelphia, PA would find better airfare deals with US Airways because Charlotte and Philadelphia are both hub cities for US Airways. Whereas, booking a flight from Charlotte to Philadelphia would be far more expensive if it were booked with Delta Airlines for these particular cities. Be sure to research on the Internet and discover each airlines hub cities. Here are a few:
US Airways: Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh
Delta: Atlanta
American Airlines: Miami and Chicago
Northwest Airlines: Detroit and Memphis
Continental: Houston and Newark
