(Fishing is a popular and relaxing way for people of all ages and all genders to spend their leisure time. A good sportsman never catches more fish than necessary for the skillet; he would throw back into sea any fish that are small fry and need to grow to a proper size.)Fishing has been a hobby of mine since the day I was able to handle a fishing pole and cast the line far into the sea. Still today I carry on in the sport in my retirement, even though I go to the sea less frequently. Yet I do remember though days when I and two or three of my friends would pack our fishing gear in back of an auto and turn the wheel and drive to our favorite spot near the sea in the early hours of the morning.
There we hustled to the rocky shore and prepared for a day's fishing. The first order of the day was to hunt for bail, which was plentiful, as along the shore are large boulders, which underneath are habitats for sea worms; a bit of digging, and we would have a good supply for all. The gear was prepared and the line baited. Then we would split up, more for safety, and found a good spot on the smooth boulders. We would cast our lines in the sea and hope for a nibble by a fish; it was quite relaxing as we watched our lines wavering through the water. Then the bite and the line tightened and we let the line be pulled out a little to the sea by the fish to take hold of the hook before we started to reel in our catch. Well, we didn't catch whoppers but we did take in a decent catch for a morning's fishing.
Comradeship was strengthened as we sat around the camp stove and sipped a delicious cup of black coffee and discussed our prowess in fishing and off course there where whoppers of tales. These confabs after a few hours of fishing added to the pleasure of the sport. When the sun stood high in the sky we packed up and headed to the car and home.
