Drugs, murders, human trafficking, and terrorism are all indicators of violence in our world, with its presence more heavily noted in some countries than others. People live in fear and delinquents do not value human life where crime is prevalent; a common element of their daily lives. Forthcoming is a list numerating the most dangerous countries (not at war) on our planet and the reasons behind it, in correlation with statistics on NationMaster.com. You wouldn't want to be caught dead living there, literally.

5. Russia. In this crime-ridden, ex-Soviet state, no longer does the government stuff their Armani suits with rubles, but the vandals and gangsters. The Russian mafia runs amuck, there are more gangsters than police, and a Russian is assassinated every 18 minutes, averaging 84 murders per day in a nation of 143 million. The nucleus of Russian crime is stationed in the Republic of Chechnya, a region within Russia just north of Georgia. Prostitution, drug trafficking, and underground restaurants are arbitrarily controlled by the Chechens. Foreigners are kidnapped more frequently due to the higher ransom allocated. Crimes towards include but are not limited to: pick pocketing wallets, cell phones, cameras, cash, and physical assaults. From superpower to Third World country, think tanks are beginning to speculate if communism really was the cure for Russia.

Please read my article correctly: "Forthcoming is a list numerating the most dangerous countries (not at war) on our planet and the reasons behind it, in correlation with statistics on NationMaster.com." Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia are countries at war. And Pakistan does not report all of its crime due to its corrupt government.

Im not saying Colombia isnt dangerous, but its not the most dangerous. Bogota averages 23 murders per 100,000 people, Washington 29.1. Look at the stats on crime per capita that was put up earlier by "Steve Shapiro"

Typically defensive, biased comments from Colombians on here. Bogota and Medellin are still more dangerous than Washington (it's a fact so don't even try that one - liars), and it's a waste of time reporting anything to the Colombian police apart from murders and kidnapping for ransom. They're extremely corrupt and not interested in minor crime, particularly with so many murders going around they haven't got time to chase 'burglars' or other 'petty thieves' lol.

in 1991 Medellín average 500 homicides a month. now less than 30. Washington DC has more. is Medellín the most dangerous city anymore? i think not

hey moron dont call me a dumass because youre not smart enough to read the whole comments. and dont say "look at the populations". what about other countries like the UK, China and Russia with high populations that have lower crime than the US? btw einstein look at the crimes per capita. and if youre brain cant hold enough info to remember, per capita means per 1000 people. so total population has nothing to do with the crime per capita. US is ranked 8th in total crime per capita (per 1,000 people). colombia? 53rd.

Look at the populations of the two countries, dumbass..

the US has the 6th most assaults per capita in the world. Colombia? 35th. the US has 1.5 million more total assaults than second place UK. The US is ranked 17th in burglaries per capita. Colombia? 48th. the US has 1.1 million more total burglaries than second place Germany. The US is ranked 9th in car thefts per capita. Colombia? 32nd. The US has 900,000 more total car thefts than second place UK. In drug offenses the US has 560.1 per 100,000 people which ranks 41st. Colombia? Not in the top 50. Ill agree that Colombia has had a high murder rate (theyre 2nd) but the US is 8th and not that far behind. The US is ranked 9th in rapes per capita. Colombia? 44th. the US has 43000 more than second place South Africa. Now for the biggie. In total crime per capita the US is ranked 8th. Colombia? 53rd. the US (11.5 million) has more than FIVE MILLION more "total crimes" commited than second place UK (6 million. . Colombia has a measley 214,000.

dont say "of course some countries (i.e USA) have more crime cause they have more people". what about other countries like china and russia with high populations that have lower crime than the US. im going to give you some statistics about crime rates.

In 2005, Bogotá had a murder rate of 23 persons per 100,000 inhabitants, a 71% drop from the prior decade. The city today has a lower murder rate than Caracas, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. so f off!

HOW IN THE WORLD COULD YOU SAY THAT COLOMBIA IS THE MOST DANGEROUS?!!!?!!?!?! corrupt government? uuummmmmm President Uribe has taken a stronghold of this great country and is a great leader. Bogota's crime rate is lower than in the capital of the USA. tourists getting kidnapped? Bombing targeted civilians? The last time that happened was like 10-15 years ago. But now that Uribe has taken over, this is not a problem anymore. Drug trade? What is this 1989? There are only a couple drug cartels in Colombia that are a problem. And you know who buys them? Americans. ok SO BACK OFF. Come on seriously, how about you get your facts straight, I was born and raised in Colombia and nothing has ever happened to me. Its people like you that give Colombia a bad name. I have been in more danger in the USA than in Colombia. learn your facts before trashing a beautiful and great country like Colombia
