Verison Wireless Service Reviews

Verizon Wireless owns and operates the second-largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, based on total wireless customers. As of April 2006, the company served a total of 54.8 million customers and has the largest service by area.

Consumer Report ranked Verizon Wireless as the best provider in the 12 metro areas it surveyed. Nevertheless, Verizon Wireless (a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone) was not free of trouble, but simply had fewer problems than its competitors, it said. The report said overall satisfaction with cell phone service is generally below average compared with many other services rated by the magazine. Verizon Wireless has consistently come in first in Consumer Reports satisfaction surveys.

Verison offers many basic and advanced features offered on most of the Verizon phones. Some, such as V-cast, are unique to Verizon, while some, such as internet speeds, are simply faster than other carriers.

Verizon Wireless claims it invests more than $6 billion annually to "maintain and expand" its nationwide CDMA network and support its analog network. Verizon Wireless offers voice services as well as 3G data services such as wireless broadband based on EV-DO, text and picture messaging, over-the-air downloadable applications and content from its "Get It Now" service, Video on Demand in the form of V CAST (which allows customers to download and view video content), Location-Based Services, and Push-to-Talk.

Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile tied for the top spot among wireless phone companies in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey conducted by the University of Michigan.

Verizon moves up a notch to top brand in its category in the 2006 American Brand Excellence Awards survey. The survey was conducted by the City Business Journal Network among 1,000 small- and medium-sized business owners and managers. Verizon ranked #1 in its peer communications group.
