Habit Kicking
Ridding Yourself of the Bad Ones
There are plenty of habits out there that are not healthy. Whether it is chewing your nails, picking your nose, or just plain being annoying in social gatherings, we all have something we would rather just not associated with. The road to fixing these issues can be tough, but impossible, as long as you follow a strict guideline, and work your way toward getting better.Step 1: Realize you have a Problem
This is a bit cliché, but I see this problem time and time again. The people that have the biggest problems in their life generally don't seem to think that there is a problem, and the ones that do won't admit that it needs fixed. If you are truly serious, you will admit that something you are doing isn't healthy, and that you need to find someone that can help you.
Step 2: Recognize when you struggle the most
This can be hard for those that have had the problem for a long time. Habits like biting your nails can originate from childhood, and because of this they can be very difficult to kick. You have found that the biggest time that you get your craving is right after you work out, as it would seem apparent that working out burns all the food you are eating. This is definitely not the case, however and you are only hurting yourself more. This now leads into...
Step 3: Eliminating the temptation
Now this can be a bit harder than it looks, but it is one of the biggest steps to getting over your habit. If you eliminate the urge, then the habit will be much easier to kick. This would involve steps like: always keeping your nails trimmed, not hanging around the friends that are causing the problem, or just plain clamming up when it comes to talking.
