Theology is the basis for a lot of debate. Interrupting the Bible, Koran and other sacred books have been the subject of many discussions and arguments throughout the years. Everyone has their own ideas of what scriptures and stuff mean to them and sometimes what they should mean to others. To understand theological debates, one must understand theology itself.

Theology is the combination of two Greek words, "theos" meaning God and "logos" meaning study of. Therefore theology mean the study of God or any god. If you think and write your thoughts down about God, Allah, Buddha or anyone else, then you yourself are a theologian. Theologians strive not to simply know about their God, but to really know their God and have a relationship with him. Theology is not necessarily based on facts, but the opinion of the theologian. The basis for Christian theology is the Holy Bible, so the Koran would be the basis of Islamic theology. The early Christians did not have the Bible so their interpretation and assessments were based on what they heard, learned and sometimes saw. This caused some warped views od the Christian faith and possibly other faiths as well.
