Keeping a journal is a great outlet and can produce many positive attributes in your life. It can be a way to encourage creativity, help with problem solving, help clarify your thoughts and be a wonderful way to preserve memories. A journal is essentially a travelogue of your personal experiences through the journey of your life and describes your feelings and reflections along the way. Some people choose to have thematic journals based on their interests or hobbies, but typically a journal is a variety of subjects and observations and is based on whatever the writer feels is important to them. Just remember that their aren't any rules to journaling; it's all about what you want to get out of this enjoyable and inspiring activity.

To begin your journaling journey, you need to have some basic materials. There's no need to purchase anything elaborate; all you really need is a notebook and pen or pencil. There are also plenty of journaling supplies that are available at bookstores and stationary stores such as blank journal books, gel pens, markers and stickers. Since there are no rules to journaling, as mentioned before, you can choose to express yourself in your journal however you want by adding your own personal touches. Personal photos can also be a good thing to add to a journal, as can pictures cut from a magazine or your very own drawings. Journaling tools are as individual as each one of us, so don't be afraid to experiment and find what's right for you.
