I was having the tires changed on both vehicles one day over in the Midlothian are of Richmond, Virginia when the ol' tummy started in rumbling so I walked across the street to find some food. Good move, that. In this large shopping center is Hong Kong King Buffet, an all-you-can-eat Chinese place...and boy can I eat sometimes! Most buffet type places turn out to have pretty bland food. This is not the case here...and it isn't all Chinese food either. The five huge buffet tables are salads with just about anything you ever cared to put on it; scrumptious deserts; one of mainly American buffet fair like roast, ham, and pizza; with the remaining two having your basic Chinese dishes and the Crab Legs at night. Then toward the back you will find yet another area with Sushi and Mongolian Barbeque.
When you walk in, it looks pretty elegant and expensive. Nice carpet, rounded desk that looks much like a hotel check-in, and everyone is in suits. Black pants/skirts, white shirts/blouses. The first time we thought 'uh oh, this is gonna cost us!' Not so. Lunch is only $5.25 during the week, $6.95 on the weekends; Dinner is $10.95 and $11.95. Children eat lunch for $2.75 and dinner for $5.75. Yes, children are welcome here.
The dining area is over 10,000 square feet. They do have a smoking section. Tables are not right on top of each other so you have elbowroom while you shovel it in. The feel of the place, once you get past the large elegant entrance, is airy yet nice. Nicely decorated with various Chinese paintings.
They do have a regular menu, but why would you bother with that when there are so many choices on the buffet at such a great price? Plenty of vegetarian items on the buffet if you are so inclined.
