What Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition that causes well defined red spots. These spots, or patches, are also covered by flaky, silvery colored scale on the outside. The areas affected will also cause itchiness or even soreness.

Yes, there are 5 basic forms of the disorder:

-Plaque psoriasis (most common form)

-Guttate

-Inverse

-Pustular

-Erythrodermic

Where Do You Get Psoriasis?

It can show up almost anywhere on the body. Some of the most common areas are the elbows, knees, face, back and scalp.

Who Gets Psoriasis?

Although psoriasis can affect anyone, it usually begins between the ages of 15-35. Over 75% of all cases develop before the age of 40. Nearly 5 million people in the U.S. have this skin disorder. It also strikes both men and women equally. Research has shown that genetics plays a role as well. With one-third of those who get it having a family member with psoriasis as well. Another 1 out of 10 develops it during their childhood years.

What Causes Psoriasis?

In simple terms, psoriasis is caused by skin cells that rise to the top of the skin far too fast and creates a pile up so to speak on the surface. Normally, skin cell turnover takes approximately one month, but with psoriasis it happens within a few days. That is what creates the problem.

Is Psoriasis Contagious?

Contrary to what some may think, psoriasis is not contagious. You can't get it by touching someone who has it. It is not infectious in any way.

How Do You Know You Have It?

That can be a tricky area. Psoriasis is sometimes difficult to pinpoint in many cases because of how well it closely resembles other types of skin disorders. Skin samples are needed to get a closer look and make the correct diagnosis.

(con)sorry, andyways it only cost like $9.00 with tax and all. It's more then worth it. Im so thankful my mom stopped to look for me. If you've had it like i have, i ask you to please go to your local cvs pharmacy and pick it up. They even have the same lotion that you can puchase too. It'll work, i promise.

Hey, I've had psoriasis for nine years. I'm 17, and i have my good days and my bad. Alot of people get really depressed with this skin condition. I had where i would be depressed all the time. Me and my mom had tryed just about everything. I went to plenty of dctors and dermotologist. Nothing they gave me worked. We spent hundreds of dollars on stuff that didnt ever work. My mom decided to stop by CVS PHARMACY one day and pick a few personal items up on day on her way home from work. She looked to see if they happen to have any lotion for psoriasis. And she found more then just that. She bought "Dermarest" Psoriasis medicated skin treatment. I know it sound like its just one of the those fake treatments you always hear about, but it honestly cleared up most of my skin. Meaning. i had psoriasis all over my body. From head to toe. But anyways, i've been using this product for a while now. I could tell a difference on my legs and neck the first two days. And the crazy thing is it only cos
