Bill O'Reilly's Interview on 60 Minutes

For a man who has been hailed as some sort of right wing Icon due to his "War on Christmas", "Culture Wars" etc., Bill O'Reilly has some rather odd views. I'm quite sure there are a few of his fans climbing out on a ledge, if not putting on a diaper to drive to his home and stalk the man. In the interview with Mike Wallace, Bill O'Reilly said that Wallace was one fo three people in the business that he looked up to starting out, the other two being Howard Cosell and Tom Snyder, both quite well known in the 1970's.

Among other views that some of his viewers might find offensive, if not downright repulsive: that he favors gun control, civil unions, not only for homosexuals but for anyone who doesn't want to get married, that he is anti death penalty and pro environment. O'Reilly even went so far as to say that anyone who doesn't believe that global warming is real is "an idiot". All over America and including some CP's on this site, one could practically hear the groans coming from the true believers who had it in their heads that Bill O'Reilly was "The Man".

As for the NRA and the gun lobby, those people, in some cases are so hysterical as to blackball the host of an outdoor show who had the temerity to suggest that maybe assault rifles weren't appropriate for hunting. The man, who I was not familiar with, by the name of Zumbo, I believe it was, is a 30 year member of the NRA, has hosted this show for years and was considered a sort of hero to the Bubbas.

Now, even though he apologized profusely for the remarks, this Zumbo guy has been drummed from the show in disgrace and his career is considered all but over.

It will be interesting to see the reaction from some of O'Reilly's more conservative fans to Billo's comments on 60 Minutes. I'm sure some will say that the remarks were edited, or an O'Reilly look-alike was substituted to utter the offending remarks. You know that insidious "Liberal Media".
