Half Life 2 is simply an awesome video game. But the company has a problem, or more correctly we have one that the company is trying to correct. The problem is piracy and illegal copying of video games.I recently broke down and bought Half Life 2. Now to understand what I mean by that you have to understand a little something about my life and what I do for a living. I write for extra money and am a stay at home dad. My wife works and due to my own circumstances I stay at home and take care of the house and write for money. I also started to write PC and Game Boy Advance reviews for a video game review website. Okay I'll plug them now, Game Chronicles Magazine.
I started doing this to get practice, more exposure as a writer and let's face it the fun. Who in his right mind that enjoys video games would not love to get a job reviewing video games. It doesn't pay money for the job, I get the experience and the games for free. The pay is in the fun and the publishing of my work. So you can imagine what my wife said when I told her I bought a video game that I had wanted. "But you get them free, why pay for one." "But this is the best game of the year."
You can imagine how the discussion went, but she stopped after a bit. I do help the family with my writing and make money so she said if I wanted to occasionally buy one that would be fine. And Half life 2 is the best game of the year hands down. For any kind of action, first person shooter or any kind of PC game in one of these or similar genres it is the top game of 2005. Being in the video game business, sort of, I know that very few games have come out that match it or are better in the graphics area.
