It's absolutely irresponsible! It's stupid! It's inconceivable why anyone would want to 'settle down' so early! Don't you want to live your life first? How foolish! If you married early in your life, it's likely you've been subjected to a similar litany of complaints generously dished out by peers and older adults. If you did not marry early in your life, it's likely you've either spoken or thought these thoughts when you heard a young friend or schoolmate had married. Of course, these thoughts are understandable. With the divorce rate at nearly 50%, you'd think people would put more careful consideration when deciding at what point in their life they choose to marry and with whom they plan to spend the rest of their life. So naturally, to most people, the phrase "teen marriage" conjures up images of irresponsible, immature teenagers who, not only lack wisdom, but prudent forethought. I wouldn't dare deny this. From my own (perhaps limited) observations, many married teens are irresponsible and immature. Most don't even possess an ounce of forethought.
