If there is one thing I know, it is how to nail a summer job interview. I have always been good at interviewing. Ever since I was 15 years old, there has not been a single job that has rejected my application/resume. Whether it was for a water park lifeguard, a grocery story clerk, or a customer service representative, I was the queen of summer jobs. I will show you how utterly simple it is to stand out from the crowd and nail your summer job interview.

Attire
It has probably been preached to you time and time again to dress up at a job interview. I cannot stress this fact enough. You may think that all your competition will dress up as well, but you are mistaken. As a matter of fact, most teenagers that go to job interviews wear standard clothes that they would wear to school. If you dress up for your job interview, you will not only stand out from the crowd, but will also show the employer that you are truly serious about the job.

Prepare
Make sure you thoroughly prepare for any summer job interview questions you have to answer. For example, typical questions are: "What makes you perfect for the job?", "Describe Yourself in three words", "What is a difficult situation you have handled?", "Give me an example of a time you worked as a team." Be sure to prepare these questions because they will help prepare you for any other interview questions you have to field. You would be surprised at how many teenagers interview for summer jobs completely unprepared. Get ahead of those folks and prepare for questions.

Follow-up
Although whether or not you get your summer job is the first thing on your mind, it is not the first thing on the employer's mind. They might put off making a decision because they temporarily forgot. Don't let this happen to you. A few days after your job interview, call the employer and ask if there has been a decision made about the summer job. This contact will let them know just how serious you really are about the position. Don't be surprised if they offer the job to you right there on the phone. It has happened to me 3 times.
