What is color therapy and how can it help you?

Color, it surrounds us, we are infused in it. It radiates from our walls, furniture, sky, trees, flowers. Color is everywhere. Have you ever thought about the effect has on us mentally and physically or why you feel so refreshed when you repaint a room? Why are institutional settings painted in certain colors? What do marketing and advertising professionals know about the appeal of color?

Color Therapy also known as Chromotherapy is the use of color to balance the body's energy. Tools of the trade include fabric, light boxes, crystals and stone, candles and prisms. The theory of color therapy is that light resonates with our body's energy, causing a change in vibration. Infusing one's self in certain colors can then affect the body in a positive way.

Practitioners of color therapy believe that exposing the chakras to the various chakra colors we can strengthen that energy. What is the effect of certain colors on the body? Which colors will effect and balance the chakras? Red, orange, green, blue, indigo, and violet represent the colors of the chakras. The chakras are our body's energy centers. Chakra#1 Color red, First chakra, energizes stimulates, too much red can make illnesses worse. Red is the color of war, fire, and sexual energy, known to heal colds and increase circulation, elevate blood pressure.

Chakra# 2
Color orange, Second Chakra, aids digestion and appetite, and disorders related to digestion. Orange is the color of our emotional connection to joy.

Chakra #3
Color yellow, Solar Plexus Chakra, the color yellow effects our emotions, memory, and eases digestive disturbances. Yellow is the color of wisdom.

Chakra#4
Color green, the heart chakra. Green is a soothing color and healing to those with anxiety and depression, the color green is calming. Green is a healing color for the heart and should be avoided in the case of patients with tumors. Green is the spiritual color of perfect love.
