Chapter 11: Stranded With Strangers

First Sergeant Brumfield fell to the blue-green body of water below him. Strapped into the seat, he prayed someone would find him. What he didn't know was his GPS tracker beneath his seat had been fried. The brief skirmish between the aliens and human counterparts had ended in a disaster, as both sides had equal amount of loses. Though the cost of damage was probably higher on the human side, the whole alien 'fleet' of aircraft was destroyed.

The buckles constricted Brumfield's breathing but he pulled on the strap lightly. He then tore off his helmet and oxygen mask, but careful not to drop it in the water a hundred meters below him.

Sergeant Brumfield dropped into the Atlantic Ocean, like a leaf falling gently on the surface of a lake. The scene would look similar due to the fact that his parachute dropped just as gently. Brumfield unbuckled himself, careful not to snag on top of anything that would bring him down into the water right beneath him. Keeping his oxygen mask close, he drifted quietly in the open sea.

"Anybody hear me? Report. Dial LZ coordinates. Repeat. Dial Landing Zone coordinates. This is the carrier, The Atlantis. Any pilots out there?" Said the radioman aboard the Atlantis.

If someone were to enter the bridge, they would see complete disarray. Radiomen spoke in despair into their amplified microphones, lieutenants tried to get the situation under control, and the skipper barked orders to his underlings. Radiomen sat directly at 9 o'clock, and the radar watchers sat to 3 o'clock. The Admiral stood near the windows of his bridge, turning quickly left and right at the anarchy occurring around him. Of course, it wasn't total anarchy; it was more similar to organized chaos.
