In Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, Jeff Foxworthy (is he smarter than a redneck?) will emcee between adult contestants and actual fifth graders. This season's young cuties will be nine-year old Alana, eleven-year-olds Jacob and Laura, and ten-year-olds Kyle and Spencer. All are adorable. All are young. All have a fifth grade education.

What could be so hard about that? Each show will give one adult the chance to answer trivia questions that any average fifth grader could answer with relative ease. The prize? One million smackers - and that's just for answering eleven questions correctly. The kids (all of whom are actually professional actors, for some pint-sized star power) will get help in the form of looking at someone else's answer, straight-out cheating, and being "saved" by being bailed out of an incorrect answer - though they get each "help" only once.

Sounds simple enough, right? But consider what fifth graders are learning these days...then, consider that most adults have no idea what fifth graders are learning these days (much less what they might have learned in fifth grade). While adults will be reaching into their memories of twenty-plus years ago, the kids will have to think backward to (possibly) last week.

Following FOX hit American Idol, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader is schedule to premiere in a three-night run starting February 27. The new game show will air for three weeks after American Idol, in an obvious bid by FOX to juice up ratings for the brand-new game show (a genre FOX hasn't had a whole lot of success with). With funny man Jeff Foxworthy in the lead and cute kid stars stealing every scene, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader could definitely become a big hit.

This is one show from FOX that the whole family might enjoy together, if parents can deal with being upstaged by their own children. This show will test trivia knowledge that usually isn't asked on traditional game shows, and give audiences a taste of the past and things forgotten. Not to mention, cute kids, a million bucks, and redneck jokes. Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? seems to have it all.
